lucky horse shoe heart/traditional wedding or 6th anniversary gift/Hand forged

These are made from old horse shoes. The shoe is heated then the two heads are forged in with small chisels, punches and hammer blows, before its bent in to a heart shape.

As each shoe is different the final product will vary, both in size and shape. Sometimes this results in the two horses kissing, sometimes because of uneven wear one head will dip and appear to kiss the other.

Supplied with a cord looped through the holes for hanging it up .

Each shoe is finished with a traditional mix of linseed oil and beeswax. Applied hot it burns on to the surface giving a slightly darker finish to the metal without obscuring any of the hammer marks like modern paints or finishes would.

Because of the nature of my work and the materials used there will be slight variations between products as no two are ever completely the same.
