Hand forged snail paperweights/Blacksmith decretive item

The snails are made by splitting and tapering the end of a bar. Then the other end is pointed and curled to make the shell.

These work well as paperweights but can also be fixed to the wall by drilling through the top of the shell so they can be used as small hooks for keys etc.

Each product is finished with a traditional mix of linseed oil and beeswax. Applied hot it burns on to the surface giving a slightly darker finish to the metal without obscuring any of the hammer marks like modern paints or finishes would.

Because of the nature of my work and the materials used there will be slight variations between products as no two are ever completely the same.
